The low mountain range of Tesimo – Prissian was already inhabited during the Lombards and Roman times and first mentioned as “Tesana”.
At the Tesimo low mountain range you can get to know the uniqueness of this region and spend an unforgettable holiday. Numerous castles, fortresses and residences give the region its special charm. Many of them date from the early Middle Ages. The Fahlburg, for example, is one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in South Tyrol. Also the famous castle Katzenzungen, where the largest and probably oldest vine of Europe is located, can be found here.
A special tip is the so-called felt art hiking trail, which is lined with 24 animal figures, fairy tale and mythical creatures made of felt. No less interesting are the numerous churches, such as the parish church Maria Himmelfahrt with the most beautiful stained glass in Tyrol, the St. Michael chapel with late Gothic murals, the small church St. Hippolyt on a hill above Lana with a fantastic panoramic view and many other churches.
In the warm months, the surroundings of Tesimo invite you to wonderful walks. Especially in autumn, nature shows its best side here. At the traditional “Törggelen”, the chestnut and the young, sweet wine are celebrated after a successful harvest. Don’t miss the “Keschtnriggl”…
