Our history

A home for generations – a place to feel at home.
The story of today’s Residence Alpina goes back many centuries. The property was first officially mentioned in 1619 under the name “Egghäusl” and is therefore one of the oldest houses in Tesimo. Its origins probably date back even further to the former Eckenhof farm, which was already mentioned in 1386.

A new chapter began for the house in 1942: our grandmother Maria Oberhofer Frei acquired the upper part of the property and moved in with her nine children. As the children gradually grew up and left home, the first guest rooms were created – the beginning of our long tradition of hospitality.

In 1960, the lower part of the house also became part of the family property. A few years later, the property was given the name Brunnerhof, named after the historic village fountain located nearby. In 1989, the house was extensively renovated and transformed into a modern holiday residence with apartments, lovingly managed by our mother Anni Kruselburger Frei.

In 2014, Nadine Frei returned to the family business together with her husband Martin Rupp and their children Johanna and Luis. Following an extensive modernisation, the Brunnerhof became the Residence Alpina in 2019. The new name represents modern holiday comfort and reflects the continued development of our house.

With the largest expansion in our history in 2025, another new chapter began: a garage, a swimming pool with a spacious relaxation area, two new holiday apartments and a cosy breakfast room were created.

Today, the Residence Alpina combines more than 400 years of history with modern comfort and warm family hospitality. What has remained unchanged through generations is the joy of welcoming people and creating unforgettable holidays in Tesimo.
